Grenfell: Navigating the changing regulatory landscape will be challenging but choosing the right partner can lead to successful outcomes

February 2025

The Grenfell Tower Inquiry Phase 2 Report, published in February 2025, has brought significant changes to the fire safety landscape. As a long-standing advocate and campaigner for improvements to legislation and regulatory frameworks for fire safety in construction, we at Ogilvie FP welcome these changes. However, we also recognise that navigating this new landscape presents a number of challenges for housing associations, healthcare providers, hoteliers, commercial real estate and more. For these types of organisations, the need for contractors with a reputation for competence and accountability is now a priority.

The inquiry revealed significant concerns surrounding the testing, certification, and installation of fire stopping products and materials. The regulatory landscape is also becoming more complex, with increased scrutiny and enforcement with severe penalties for non-compliance. Updates to the classification of high-risk buildings is likely to subject a greater variety of building types to enhanced oversight. Resident engagement has also been identified as a critical component of fire safety, with greater expectations around effective communication and transparency.

With well over a decade of experience operating as principal contractors, we understand precisely what needs to be done with regards to installation, navigating through the complexities of managing a variety of projects – not only through our own processes, but also by helping our clients manage their processes. With wholesale regulatory changes being introduced throughout the next few years, the need to future-proof is more critical than ever. Relying on contractors with a comprehensive understanding of both specifications and legislation is critical for achieving and maintaining compliance.

From assessments and inspections, to installation, to maintenance – we employ tech-supported, tried and tested standards and procedures which we continuously refine through our quality management system. We are recognised for our clear communication and transparency, and are proud to enjoy a reputation for industry-leading quality. Our aim is to create safe environments for occupants whilst safeguarding asset values for our clients.
